Journey of Flower Upcyclers

Mr. Paresh Pandey founder of Weaarambh and a social activist. Aarambh is an organization that creates the most out of flower waste. The innovative idea struck Mr. Paresh when someone gifted him flowers and he kept them in his cupboard. On seeing the flowers die, he pondered over the thought of how many flowers go to waste like this. He then dug up and found research about the waste of flowers in India. What to do with these waste flowers? He again researched and talked about this to his friends. They came up with the idea of creating herbal colors for Holi and pure natural incense sticks. This birthed the Aarambh.

When anyone tries to go against the flow, one faces opposition rather than support. Mr. Paresh was no different than others. He to faced questions such as how would you survive on this? You have zero experience in this industry and many more. Such questions could not bring down the spirits of Mr. Paresh. On the contrary, he used the questions as stepping stones to his success.

Aarambh was not created in a day. Mr. Paresh first approached his friends with his idea and they all appreciated it. They did not hire anyone and worked day and night to create the products. They started with a mere investment of Rs. 75,000 and today they are a team of around 11 people. Mr. Presh dreams of educating and training people about this concept. He urges the government to help him spread this across India, thus generating employment and stopping the wastage of flowers.

Mr. Paresh wandered taking around for various permissions required from the government bodies to start the Aarambh. But he did everything for the good of mother nature. He put his blood and sweat for this project and is still doing that.

In addition to Aarambh, Mr. Paresh also works as an animal rescuer at an NGO. He has saved many lives of animals. He also tries to educate people around him on better caring for street dogs and cats. He firmly believes that animals such as humans have equal rights in their lives.

The Legit Talks asked Mr. Paresh about his lesser-known qualities. He said that he is and will always be a learner. He has a habit of getting knowledge wherever he go, though he may not tell this to everyone.

In the coming five years, Mr. Paresh envisions greater employment for Aarambh. He wishes to wipe out unemployment along with the wastage of flowers. If given a chance to talk with a government, he would first put up the point about wastage not only about flowers but also about other environmental changes required.

Mr. Paresh has always been a fan of The Legit Talks show and appreciates their efforts. He said that people come to know what unique things are happening in people’s lives. We learn from each other, says Mr. Paresh.

Trust Your Timeline

Dr. Ayushi Toley Ganorkar is a dentist currently pursuing MDS in Orthodontics 2nd year at Chattisgarh Dental Research Institute, Rajnandgaon. Though dentistry was not her first choice, she took up the course as there was no option left for her. However, she rose through the ups and downs and learned a lot about dentistry and life through college. For her master’s, she chose Orthodontics as her major as she had a keen interest in the subject and wanted to explore more.

Dr. Ayushi turned her career towards orthodontics after marriage. While practicing dentistry, she realized that she needs to stop this and grow more. That’s when she decided to appear for the exam and pursue a master’s in orthodontics. Like many other students, Dr. Ayushi faced self-doubt during the preparation for the exam. Will I pass and score well? Will I get admission? Will I get the desired branch? Dr. Ayushi was surrounded by her own questions, but she overcame them by studying hard every day. As she was married, she had certain responsibilities too, though she had a supporting family. Handling all that and studying to her fullest every day made her what she is today. She focused on the present day and forgot about the past hard days that she faced.

Not many people understand the difference between an orthodontist and a dentist. Dr. Ayushi said that there is more in orthodontics than dentistry. It may look very simple from the above, but it has many things deeply rooted inside. She explained with an example, endodontists have a specific treatment plan for a particular issue of the tooth. In orthodontics, each patient is given a customized treatment and different patients have different treatments.

The current trend in orthodontics is that of a clear aligner system. There are multiple brands that manufacture it, but today even orthodontists can produce in their own office and use it to treat patients. This trend is growing, says Dr. Ayushi.

The Legit Talks asked Dr. Ayushi why orthodontists are known for bringing out the best smiles in people. Dr. Ayushi explained that there are two things: An aesthetic smile and overall facial harmony or facial balance. Orthodontists focus on facial balance more rather than focusing on just the smile. There are some people who just need to correct their smile as their facial balance is perfect (like actresses), and then there are people who need to have facial harmony. The way the teeth move, the orientation of your nose, the orientation of your upper jaw and lower jaw, and much more are now possible with all new techniques and efficient biomechanics. This has helped to correct any shape and make it more pleasing.

This, however, cannot be considered as a beauty treatment. The process involves different alignments such as the alignment of the upper jaws with the nose, and also the overall facial profile. It is difficult and different from what a dentist does to beautify your smile.

Everybody has a secret that no one knows about and The Legit Talks asked Dr. Ayushi about hers. She said that she has a mandatory checklist every day for the to-do tasks. If, for consecutive days, she is unable to prepare such a list or strike off the tasks, she gets cranky.

As mentioned at the beginning of the interview, becoming a dentist was not the first choice of career by Dr. Ayushi. If not a dentist, she would have been a news anchor!

The Legit Talks asked Dr. Ayushi about her proud moment, to which she denied having one. She just makes every day count and lives contently.

The five-year plan for Dr. Ayushi involves her living happily with her family. She has always longed to spend time with her loved ones and she is looking forward to it. She also plans to open two clinics of her own.

It is often said that we grow through what we go through. It was not Dr. Ayushi’s first choice of becoming a dentist. She considered it as God’s plan and she anchored it. Today she has learned so much about the field and she grew as a person too.

The biggest challenge in Dr. Ayushi’s life was the step of marriage. Married life changes everything, especially for a girl. Adjusting to a new house and people, their habits, their likes and dislikes, and on top of that trying to grow your career is a big task. Things are different for a girl when she is at her mother’s house and when she stays with her in-laws. Her responsibilities grow and there is so much to look after, that girls get pretty less time to study. Dr. Ayushi, however, strived hard through all these with determination toward her career and studies.

Dr. Ayushi is grateful for having a loving husband and a family. She’s also grateful for whatever she has achieved. She feels blessed as she got everything she asked for. She is also grateful for her parents as they have been supportive through all these years, especially her mother.

The message that Dr. Ayushi has for the viewers is that Trust your Timeline. Do not compare your life with others, trust God and whatever he has designed for you.

Dr. Ayushi appreciates the efforts of The Legit Talks team and how they strive hard to let people know the unknown. Short but impactful stories are what makes this platform legit, says Dr. Ayushi.

KATHAK Dance Form as a Career

Mrs. Prerna Sharma is a founder of Natrajan Nrityakala Aashram at Noida. She founded this institution in the year 2015. Mrs. Prerna has studied journalism and mass communication, along with being a graduate in history. In addition, she has completed her MBA in Finance and International Marketing. She holds a postgraduate degree in both Kathak and Tabla.

Natrajan Nrityakala Aashram has seen more than 300 students learning kathak. Mrs. Prerna says that Kathak is not only a dance form, it is a universe of learning many things. She trains all her students with basics and makes the foundation perfect. Mrs. Prerna observed that there’s a gap between the trainer and the learner in many institutions. She aims at bridging this gap by providing the right education to the learner. The education for Kathak never stops, it is a life-long learning process. Today’s parents need to understand that learning the kathak dance form takes a long time to achieve perfection.

The Legit Talks asked Mrs. Prerna about her mission and vision for her ashram. Mrs. Prerna said that her mission was to train all those students who want to learn kathak, tabla, or classical singing. She wants them to develop rhythm inside them. She believes in Indian tradition and wants to become a torchbearer of her culture. She wants to depict Indian tradition and stories through her dance form by providing the stage to the upcoming young dancers.

Mrs. Prerna talked about her Kathak journey. She started learning kathak at the age of 7. She learned from her Guru Rashmi Mishra in Agra. She was presented with an opportunity to perform at the Khajuraho Music Festival at the early age of 12. She couldn’t grab this big opportunity as her parents refrained her from traveling far. She told The Legit Talks that she regrets missing that opportunity all her life.

The Legit Talks also talked with Mrs. Prerna’s daughter, who started learning Kathak at the of two. She perceives Kathak as devotion. For her, the flute and bol  in kathak are like Krishna’s flute.

The Legit talks asked Mrs. Prerna about her Gurus throughout her kathak journey. Her very first Guru was Smt. Vijaylakshmi Sharma, mother of Rashmi Mishra. She has guided Mrs. Prerna all her life. She then started learning with Jaykishen Maharaj (Lucknow Gharana), PadmaShri Dr. Puru Dadheech (Jaipur Gharana), and his daughter-in-law Harshita Ma’am (Jaipur Gharana). Dr. Puru Dadheech always taught that as a kathakar, one should dance kathak and not gharanas. Mrs. Prerna says that kathak is the essence of her life.

Nowadays, people regard any classical thing as boring. To keep alive the excitement of kathak among the new generation of students, Mrs. Prerna tells different perspectives of Kathak. She uses festivals as a means of educating her students through dance.

Talking about her most memorable performances, her first performance at Taj Mahotsav, Agra is always special to her. She performed Maharas, leading as Radha. Another performance she talked about was again at Taj Mahotsav, Agra. It was choreographed by her Guru Dr. Puru Dadheech.

Mrs. Prerna has scripted and directed the complete Ramayana in the year 2019. The performance consisted of 85 students, who were not fully trained in Kathak. Mrs. Prerna trained them for the performance in just 20 days. In April 2022, they also presented the kathak vachan of Ram Janma (Birth of Shri Ram).

Kathak is not only a dance form but also an art of storytelling, says Mrs. Prerna. One should dance freely and with happiness while following all the rules of Kathak.

The message that Mrs. Prerna wants to give to the audience is:  be yourself because that is the only way you can be happy. In addition, follow your tradition and culture. Enjoy music and dance as they are stress busters.

Mrs. Prerna appreciates the efforts of The Legit Talks. She said that it is a platform where people can express their opinions freely. It helps ordinary people to spread knowledge about their subjects.

Ask Right Questions to Right People

Aakash Naoghare would move to England to pursue a career in Food and Agriculture Development. He studied engineering at Nagpur. Being from a small town, he had little contact with the outside world. After completing his diploma in Metallurgy, he found employment in Nagpur. After that, he began his career in engineering, and in his third year, he was exposed to Nirman and Beejotsav. Following that, he founded his own clothing firm, Akdee Clothing, which prints various fabrics. Aakash has been employed by Beejotsav for eight years. There have been eight National Seed Festivals held in Nagpur, to which people from all across India are invited.

The majority of city residents who pursue jobs such as rikshaw drivers are farmers or farm labourers who earn a minimum wage from farming. As villagers migrate to larger cities, the agricultural system in rural areas is collapsing. Aakash stated that boosting agriculture and liabilities on a local level in communities is essential for resolving the fundamental causes of other socioeconomic difficulties.

The Legit Talks asked Mr. Aakash how they provide consulting services to urban residents. He says that, I advises the government and NGO on how to generate employment possibilities using the available natural resources in order to provide a means of subsistence for the inhabitants of a specific location.

Aakash noted, in reference to farmer’s policy, that according to his definition, the farmer laws should be inclusive and not exclusive to farmers, Agri input companies, or states. The policy should prioritize the requirements of farmers. The state and federal governments should allocate cash at the proper moment, such as during planting season. The government of Chattisgarh came up with a fantastic concept for the farmers. They purchase the manure from cows, transform it into fertiliser, and pay the farmers in cash. This is advantageous for farmers since they can sell their garbage whenever they are in need of cash.

Additionally, Aakash shed insight into the ongoing conflict between farmers and wild animals. In the Indian state of Maharashtra, animals from adjacent jungles are responsible for the deaths of numerous farmers. He said that when formulating rules for the jungle, the state should also take into account the opinions of nearby farmers.

We posed the question of how to contribute to the growth of farmers and agriculture. Aakash suggests beginning with the correct questions at the right time. The majority of people find surface remedies to the problem, while the underlying reason remains unresolved.

Is the Indian economy mostly based on agriculture?  Around 43 percent of employment in India is in the agricultural sector. The agriculture industry contributes 14-15% of the GDP. It is unfortunate to report that agriculture today contributes little to India’s economy. With a growing population, we should have labor-intensive employment opportunities. Five individuals can be replaced by a machine, but what would those five people do? This increases the unemployment rate, Aakash added. Maslow’s theories should be used when developing answers to challenges. Additionally, one should be aware of what is happening around them and not live in a bubble. Aakash is pursuing advanced education in England to work for the government and improve the lives of farmers.

After working with Beejotsav and speaking with farmers, he realized that agriculture dictates the global economy’s general development and politics. However, nobody desires to work in agriculture due to its complexity. This is why we are still a developing country and not a developed country.

Aakash also discussed the rising rate of farmer suicides in Vidarbha. The state does not provide financial assistance to farmers when they are in need but announces a fixed amount of funds to their families upon their passing. Our lives are dependent on farmers, as our food, which is grown by farmers, keeps us alive. However, nobody considers farmers to be an essential component. No one wants to see the actual problems farmers face. According to Mr. Aakash, standing up for actual issues in the agricultural industry demands a strong spine because it can bite you back. Success for him is creating an impact through his efforts.

Mr. Aakash illuminated how climate change affects our lives and how plastic is hazardous to the environment. He also responded to related queries during the session.

His brand, Akdee clothing, focuses on eco-friendly garments that include no plastic in any form. This is what he is doing to help make the planet greener.

Aakash’s message to the audience is that if you start asking the right questions to the right people, you will solve half of your problems.

He enjoys The Legit Talks because it focuses on genuine, unedited interviews with actual individuals. The most remarkable aspect of this program is that it is unscripted and authentic.

A Dream of a Common Girl

Dr. Pallavi Nagdeve completed her bachelor’s degree in dental surgery in India, worked for two years, and is now pursuing a master’s degree in public health in Alabama, United States.

Due to her passion for dentistry and oral surgery, Dr. Pallavi pursued this subject during her internship at a private hospital in India. She expanded her horizons to include non-clinical aspects since she feels more connected to them. As a Medical Investigator, she delivered lectures on lifestyle, ergonomics, and medical crises. The work required frequent travel, which she enjoyed. She moved abroad to pursue more education and new chances.

The Legit Talks spoke about Dr. Pallavi’s struggles in India, to which she delivered a sentimental response. She was reared by her mother alone when her father passed away at a very young age. While others celebrated holidays, Dr. Pallavi sat in her home alone while her mother worked. Her mother is her greatest source of strength and motivation. It was a difficult choice for Dr. Pallavi to leave her in India and move to another nation. However, as usual, her mother encouraged her. Her mother is also cared after by her brother.

The job route we take is mostly determined by our primary interests. Dr. Pallavi selected public health because she enjoyed and excelled at it in her prior position. The education system in the United States affords her the opportunity to investigate her topic of interest in more depth. She had the choice to select from a number of subjects.

Speaking about the future of her industry, Dr. Pallavi told The Legit Talks that chances for public health services are better outside of India. In addition to having a variety of possibilities to pick from, the potential for job advancement in foreign countries is rather great.

In dentistry, there are few postgraduate specialisations. Dr. Pallavi investigated the clinical and non-clinical elements of dentistry before making a decision. According to Dr. Pallavi, many international students enrol in public health courses before moving on to dental school. She intends to seek a PhD after completing her current coursework.

Dr. Pallavi discussed how she manifested her public health career. During her internship, she began her investigation into jobs in public health. Nevertheless, it was a difficult decision to study overseas given the current economic climate and the lack of information about how things will turn out. The pandemic then halted all activity for about a year. Dr. Pallavi did not give up, manifesting that she would pursue a career in public health services and beginning her journey in 2021.

The Legit Talks questioned Dr. Pallavi about her greatest accomplishments, and she said that she still has more to accomplish. However, she discussed her struggles since childhood. Her father passed away when she was in sixth grade. It was difficult for her, and she became depressed as a result. Doctors advised her mother and teachers not to force her to study and to let her to recover at her own speed. She gradually emerged from her despair and passed her board exams. She completed all of her academics alone and was never dependent on anyone else. Dr. Pallavi viewed each advancement as a stepping stone. It gives her great pleasure to bring gifts to her loved ones, particularly her mother and brother. This is her biggest achievement.

Dr. Pallavi thinks that everyone should pursue their dreams. There will always be those who say you cannot do something. Ignore their advice and pursue your dreams.

Dr. Pallavi wishes to convey to the audience that if they wish to study abroad, they must maintain concentration and not lose their way. Research every aspect of the career, including the application procedure. It is difficult to maintain motivation in challenging circumstances, but you can motivate yourself.

Dr. Pallavi appreciated The Legit Talks Show team’s efforts and praised the show’s focus on the experiences of ordinary people. Everyone has their own narrative, and when these experiences are shared on a publicly available platform, it inspires others.

Right things to Optimize for Career After College

Mr. Sagar Daliya is an electronics engineer from BITS, Pilani. During his graduation, he also pursued a variety of courses that lead him to excellent employment chances. Later, he realised he was unhappy there, so he began working as a Growth Manager at YourPhysio. He desired to explore the startup environment, and the opportunity presented itself. He had previously completed internships at Amazon, Samsung, and YourPhysio.

Sagar, who came from an established business background, desired to create his own business. The concept of what to construct is unclear to him. He stated that working at such businesses and gaining knowledge of the work culture is a stepping stone to establishing his own business.

Sagar’s greatest concern as he transitioned to a startup was whether or not he would be able to make an effect where he worked. According to him, now is the time to prioritize education wherever you are. Pursuing wealth will not impart knowledge.

Sagar stated that there is no ideal time to make a job change. He advised that if you are unhappy with what you are doing or have a strong interest in anything different, you should pursue it. Sagar described the Indian education system as a pyramid. Beginning with the fundamentals, education provides a choice of possibilities. Then, in eleventh and twelfth grade, you select a field of study. Then you pursue your bachelor’s degree and master’s degree. You develop a resistance to a particular field since you believe this is what you enjoy. One must overcome his reluctance and evaluate his genuine interests.

The Legit Talks questioned Mr. Sagar on the necessary growth components. He highlighted that progress is both an art and a science. The science of growth entails dissecting a larger problem into smaller, more manageable bits that lead to a solution. The art of growth can be characterized as bridging the gap between a company’s core values and its users’ core values. Sagar also responded to queries regarding the 10th grade and college life.

He discussed the significance of acquiring skills and abilities. Identifying these two components is essential for growth. Identify your passion first, then build your skill set around it. Prioritize what you wish to do, and your skill set will assist you in doing so. Connect with individuals who share your interests and examine the skill sets they are cultivating. Continue to explore your hobbies from an early age. These experiments involve taking a class, meeting new people, and obtaining employment. Sagar also discussed how hobbies can be transformed into profitable businesses.

Sagar emphasized financial literacy. One should analyze their financial requirements and spend accordingly. In addition, he recommended books about money, such as Psychology of money and Money Talks.

Sagar’s intended message to the audience is that there is no right or wrong way to change careers. Determine what is most important to you and create an action plan accordingly.

He Sagar praised the work of The Legit Talks, stating that the most effective method of education is to learn from others’ experiences.
