Journey of Flower Upcyclers

Mr. Paresh Pandey founder of Weaarambh and a social activist. Aarambh is an organization that creates the most out of flower waste. The innovative idea struck Mr. Paresh when someone gifted him flowers and he kept them in his cupboard. On seeing the flowers die, he pondered over the thought of how many flowers go to waste like this. He then dug up and found research about the waste of flowers in India. What to do with these waste flowers? He again researched and talked about this to his friends. They came up with the idea of creating herbal colors for Holi and pure natural incense sticks. This birthed the Aarambh.

When anyone tries to go against the flow, one faces opposition rather than support. Mr. Paresh was no different than others. He to faced questions such as how would you survive on this? You have zero experience in this industry and many more. Such questions could not bring down the spirits of Mr. Paresh. On the contrary, he used the questions as stepping stones to his success.

Aarambh was not created in a day. Mr. Paresh first approached his friends with his idea and they all appreciated it. They did not hire anyone and worked day and night to create the products. They started with a mere investment of Rs. 75,000 and today they are a team of around 11 people. Mr. Presh dreams of educating and training people about this concept. He urges the government to help him spread this across India, thus generating employment and stopping the wastage of flowers.

Mr. Paresh wandered taking around for various permissions required from the government bodies to start the Aarambh. But he did everything for the good of mother nature. He put his blood and sweat for this project and is still doing that.

In addition to Aarambh, Mr. Paresh also works as an animal rescuer at an NGO. He has saved many lives of animals. He also tries to educate people around him on better caring for street dogs and cats. He firmly believes that animals such as humans have equal rights in their lives.

The Legit Talks asked Mr. Paresh about his lesser-known qualities. He said that he is and will always be a learner. He has a habit of getting knowledge wherever he go, though he may not tell this to everyone.

In the coming five years, Mr. Paresh envisions greater employment for Aarambh. He wishes to wipe out unemployment along with the wastage of flowers. If given a chance to talk with a government, he would first put up the point about wastage not only about flowers but also about other environmental changes required.

Mr. Paresh has always been a fan of The Legit Talks show and appreciates their efforts. He said that people come to know what unique things are happening in people’s lives. We learn from each other, says Mr. Paresh.

Dr. Ayushi Toley Ganorkar is a dentist currently pursuing MDS in Orthodontics 2nd year at Chattisgarh Dental Research Institute, Rajnandgaon. Though dentistry was not her first choice, she took up the course as there was no option left for her. However, she rose through the ups and downs and learned a lot about dentistry and life through college. For her master’s, she chose Orthodontics as her major as she had a keen interest in the subject and wanted to explore more.

Dr. Ayushi turned her career towards orthodontics after marriage. While practicing dentistry, she realized that she needs to stop this and grow more. That’s when she decided to appear for the exam and pursue a master’s in orthodontics. Like many other students, Dr. Ayushi faced self-doubt during the preparation for the exam. Will I pass and score well? Will I get admission? Will I get the desired branch? Dr. Ayushi was surrounded by her own questions, but she overcame them by studying hard every day. As she was married, she had certain responsibilities too, though she had a supporting family. Handling all that and studying to her fullest every day made her what she is today. She focused on the present day and forgot about the past hard days that she faced.

Not many people understand the difference between an orthodontist and a dentist. Dr. Ayushi said that there is more in orthodontics than dentistry. It may look very simple from the above, but it has many things deeply rooted inside. She explained with an example, endodontists have a specific treatment plan for a particular issue of the tooth. In orthodontics, each patient is given a customized treatment and different patients have different treatments.

The current trend in orthodontics is that of a clear aligner system. There are multiple brands that manufacture it, but today even orthodontists can produce in their own office and use it to treat patients. This trend is growing, says Dr. Ayushi.

The Legit Talks asked Dr. Ayushi why orthodontists are known for bringing out the best smiles in people. Dr. Ayushi explained that there are two things: An aesthetic smile and overall facial harmony or facial balance. Orthodontists focus on facial balance more rather than focusing on just the smile. There are some people who just need to correct their smile as their facial balance is perfect (like actresses), and then there are people who need to have facial harmony. The way the teeth move, the orientation of your nose, the orientation of your upper jaw and lower jaw, and much more are now possible with all new techniques and efficient biomechanics. This has helped to correct any shape and make it more pleasing.

This, however, cannot be considered as a beauty treatment. The process involves different alignments such as the alignment of the upper jaws with the nose, and also the overall facial profile. It is difficult and different from what a dentist does to beautify your smile.

Everybody has a secret that no one knows about and The Legit Talks asked Dr. Ayushi about hers. She said that she has a mandatory checklist every day for the to-do tasks. If, for consecutive days, she is unable to prepare such a list or strike off the tasks, she gets cranky.

As mentioned at the beginning of the interview, becoming a dentist was not the first choice of career by Dr. Ayushi. If not a dentist, she would have been a news anchor!

The Legit Talks asked Dr. Ayushi about her proud moment, to which she denied having one. She just makes every day count and lives contently.

The five-year plan for Dr. Ayushi involves her living happily with her family. She has always longed to spend time with her loved ones and she is looking forward to it. She also plans to open two clinics of her own.

It is often said that we grow through what we go through. It was not Dr. Ayushi’s first choice of becoming a dentist. She considered it as God’s plan and she anchored it. Today she has learned so much about the field and she grew as a person too.

The biggest challenge in Dr. Ayushi’s life was the step of marriage. Married life changes everything, especially for a girl. Adjusting to a new house and people, their habits, their likes and dislikes, and on top of that trying to grow your career is a big task. Things are different for a girl when she is at her mother’s house and when she stays with her in-laws. Her responsibilities grow and there is so much to look after, that girls get pretty less time to study. Dr. Ayushi, however, strived hard through all these with determination toward her career and studies.

Dr. Ayushi is grateful for having a loving husband and a family. She’s also grateful for whatever she has achieved. She feels blessed as she got everything she asked for. She is also grateful for her parents as they have been supportive through all these years, especially her mother.

The message that Dr. Ayushi has for the viewers is that Trust your Timeline. Do not compare your life with others, trust God and whatever he has designed for you.

Dr. Ayushi appreciates the efforts of The Legit Talks team and how they strive hard to let people know the unknown. Short but impactful stories are what makes this platform legit, says Dr. Ayushi.

The Journey of an Author

Ms. Veenela Sushmita, who hails from Vishakhapatnam, is currently a software engineer at MNC. She is also pursuing her masters from MIT, Pune. Being a curious learner, she also completed the course in Talent Acquisition Specialist and worked for a year in that field. Ms. Veenela had always had a keen interest in writing and therefore worked as a content writer as well. Today she is the author of the book ‘Men and Mistakes: Story of an Exploited Women’ which is available on both Flipkart and Amazon.

The idea of writing a book came to Ms. Veenela during the lockdown period when her brother moved out. She missed him so much that she started feeling lonely. To fill her emptiness, she started writing, which eventually became a book.

Though the title of the book comes a little negative, Ms. Veenela said it is not anti-feminist or anything like that. The book takes inspiration from real-life stories of women around Ms. Veenela. It is the story of a woman who has feeling for two boys at the same time. To sum up, the story follows an undergrad woman, the person she met, their interactions, numerous characters, how she was used, and what she had to endure. It’s raw, therefore drama may be limited. It’s the author’s story to show others that they’re not alone.

The Legit Talks asked Ms. Veenela about healing from traumas. Ms. Veenela said that she herself went through a trauma in childhood. She misjudged her parents and went through a lot of traumas during her school days. Growing up she understands that parenting is different from anyone and that one should not compare one’s parents with others. During the interview, she also said that children and parents should communicate with each other as much as possible so that children don’t go through traumas.

When asked about who is the one person that motivates Ms. Veenela, she said that there’s no one but herself. No other person has the power to motivate you unless and until you have it inside. People carry on with their lives and so should you! Ms. Veenela takes inspiration from little things in her life and it keeps on motivating her.

During the live interview, a question was asked about how should one publish their book. Ms. Veenela said that if you have an idea of the book, start writing it immediately, and that too without edits. Edit the whole book at the end when all your ideas and thoughts are on the paper. If you do not have an idea, start brainstorming every day. Eventually, you’ll come to know what you want to write. Once the book is published, do not go for paid reviews and paid promotions. Instead, go for organic readers. Ms. Veenela also insisted that one should not put all their money in the first book for promotions and stuff. Organic readers are important!

Ms. Veenela is a self-made person. She has gone through so much and has grown through all the trauma. She says that she may have hurt people on the journey, but she apologizes to them. She has emerged as a strong person who shall not take demeaning behavior from anyone and shall stand up for herself. Healing through trauma is a long and patient process. Ms. Veenela urges the audience to accept the trauma and heal at their own pace. Start the first step even when no one is there to support you. You will emerge successfully and you won’t even blame anyone. Instead, you learn to focus on what is required next. Celebrate your own journey and little successes.

The message that Ms. Veenela wants to give to the audience is that be kind no matter what. Be kind towards oneself and towards others.

Ms. Veenela appreciates the efforts of The Legit Talks. She said that such shows inspire people to do more in their life.

Keep Things in Your Own Way, It Will Make You Happy & Grounded

Ms. Shriyuta is a dentist by profession working at Gadhchiroli. She works as a research fellow in an NGO. She has been interested in dentistry since day one. In her third year, she decided to do something in public community service, as she loved it. She never saw herself having her own clinic but working in public community service.  Public health is healthcare available for everyone, appropriate, and free for everyone. It starts with prevention and gets widened care without any questions asked. Healthcare in India is medicalized making people think that it is technical stuff. It is a larger structure that defines the health status of a person. Healthcare is often seen as political too. It has a broader sense than policies, laws, management, health economics, social and behavioral sciences, and political sciences. Public Healthcare is what Ms. Shriyuta is passionate about and she strives hard to work in that field.  Talking about social justice, Ms. Shriyuta says that it has always been denied in India for very long. This is why people had to fight for independence in history, but not much has changed. Even today, the general public has to fight for social justice in public healthcare. Ms. Shriyuta says that public healthcare should be prioritized on a larger scale in India.  Ms. Shriyuta added that other developing countries spend more on their healthcare rather than other things such as defense. She says that healthcare should be free of cost and accessible to everyone. There should be more concern about why doctors are not willing to work in remote areas and why healthcare is so degrading in India. She also talked about difficulties faced by the general public during the pandemic and how people died due to a lack of healthcare management.  In India, many girls are forced to listen to their parents without considering their opinion. The Legit Talks asked Ms. Shriyuta about her views on this topic. She said that parents and even society as a whole have to change their perspective. Many girls are even forced to get married at a very young age shattering their dreams. What people would say should stop concerning you. For such girls, Ms. Shriyuta has a message: communicate your needs and dreams with your loved ones. Share with them how you feel and what you want to become. Educating the parents is also important so that they understand their child’s point of view.  Ms. Shriyuta appreciates the efforts of The Legit Talks as it gives chance for ordinary people to tell their stories. The people also get inspired and get to learn about life.

Destiny Will Make It Happen, Keep Reinventing Yourself

Mrs. Ruchika Yadav is an artist by passion and soft skills trainer by profession. Talking about her journey, she has faced many ups and downs in her life. However, her prayers and honesty at work kept her going. Her family advised her to take a government job, but coming from an HR background it was difficult for her. She worked in the corporate sector for 4 years and then joined the government as a soft skills trainer. She kept on working hard and is blessed to have what she has today. The reason why Mrs. Ruchika loves her job is that she gets to interact with a lot of people, which she loves to do.

Remembering her old days, Mrs. Ruchika talked about the most challenging period of her life. When in Delhi, she had been asked to join for training in Chennai. Her child was just 1.5 years old and she did not have the heart to go. Her inlaws and husband supported her and assured her about their child. When she was in Chennai, her husband got a great opportunity in Pune. She feared how would her child grow up with its parents apart. Later on, she also came to Pune and then all her family was together. The time she spent apart was the most difficult part of her life.  Everyone gets stuck at some point in their life. Mrs. Ruchika says that it is nature’s way of telling you to take a pause and refresh yourself. Enjoy little things and do things that you love. This is a reboot system to charge your brain for the coming life.

Talking about her passion, Ruchika said that she had been interested in painting since her childhood. Her strokes were remarkable and her friends and teachers always appreciated her. She continued her passion for painting till her school and college. But later on, she got engrossed in her studies and slowly the passion for painting was left in the corner. After many years, while in Pune, she met her old friend who came to buy art supplies for her paintings. She congratulated her friend for her upcoming exhibition, but deep down she felt broken. She went home and picked up the brush and resumed her passion. Moreover, she said that family support to pursue your passions is most important. Now Mrs. Ishwari also has art exhibitions and her paintings are also published in books.

The Legit Talks asked Ruchika about selfcare. She said that selfcare is more about mental health care than about physical health care. Selfcare is about feeding your soul. Painting, for Mrs. Ishwari, is feeding her soul.  The message that Mrs. Ishwari wants to give to the audience is that spend your day wisely. Follow your passion, have some me-time, and stay connected with yourself. Explore and learn different things. Many women sacrifice their passions for the sake of family, responsibilities, and society. Mrs. Ishwari urges all such women to pursue their passion at any time they want. She gave an example of her mother. Her mother is 60+ years old and is now pursuing her singing passion. Ruchika also urges the generation of today to ask their parents what they used to love or what their passions were and support them to pursue their old passion.  Ruchika appreciates the efforts of The Legit Talks. She says that such platforms inspire other people to overcome their difficulties and follow their dreams.

De-Coding Therapy and the Women Behind It

Ms. Ishwari Marathe is specifically trained in Rational Emotive Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, which applies to all mental health concerns. She has a personal practice, but her sessions are online since she is based in Germany. She also learns Indian Classical music and loves to travel.  Ms. Ishwari focuses on the word “Aham”, which means self. This is because a counseling session is the patient’s journey within himself.  Since Ms. Ishwari has patients pan-global, she comes across different cultural backgrounds of people. She said that acceptance of therapy has grown globally. Nowadays, people open up to their best friends and avoid going to a professional therapist, even when advised to do so. The Legit Talks asked Ms. Ishwari’s take on this. She said that though a friend’s support is essential, he/ she cannot go deeper to identify the root cause of the issue, which is addressed by a professional therapist. There are some issues rooted deep inside that even the patient and his family members are unaware of. Only a skilled professional is able to identify and treat such issues.  At what point in time should one seek a therapist; this is the common question we all have. Ms. Ishwari said that as soon as one notices the difference between who they were and suddenly they are different. These differences can be in your thinking, mood, appetite, or sleep pattern. If someone is having self-harming thoughts, then one should seek help immediately.  The most challenging patients for Ms. Ishwari are those who are resistant to the treatment. When a patient is convinced that he needs help, half of the job is done. However, convincing a patient who does not accept help is hard.  Many people have wrong perceptions about a therapist. They think that therapists may constantly nag them and would not support them. On the contrary, a therapist understands your issues and helps you to choose a path that is most comfortable for you. Also, the patient himself feels negative about himself thinking that something is wrong with them while visiting a therapist.  Many times, it is difficult for a patient to trust a therapist. Ms. Ishwari says that sometimes a patient may take more than three sessions to open up. But a therapist never judges their client for their issues and always help them to accept themselves.  Though Ms. Ishwari enjoys her job, working out is the best part of her day, she says. It helps her to start her day positively. There are some days when Ms. Ishwari does not feel like taking sessions and meeting the clients. She accepts this as she is a human before she is a therapist and that it is normal for everyone to feel like this once in a while.     Ms. Ishwari is an emotional person. Whenever she hears a painful story of a client, she tears up. She says that letting flow your tears is not a sign of weakness, but a sign of authenticity.  The Legit Talks asked Ms. Ishwari why there are more women in this profession. Ms. Ishwari said that one reason could be that women are more empathetic, communicate more effectively, and that they understand better. One other reason she added is that most of the financial support of a household is dependent on a man. There is this peer pressure that a man should earn more. However, in this profession, making money is not easy unless you start your private practice. Then, setting up your own clinic also requires infrastructure. Therefore, more women prefer this job to men.  Talking about job satisfaction, Ms. Ishwari says that when she and the client are both on the same page, that is her biggest satisfaction. When she comes to know how a patient’s life has changed because of her, she knows that she is doing the right thing.  Therapy is not gender specific, says Ms. Ishwari. People assume that men don’t need therapy, they perceive them as strong beings. It is not true. Emotions are common for everyone and anyone can go to therapy.   Ms. Ishwari’s goals are to expand her brand and conduct more workshops on mental health.  The message that Ms. Ishwari wants to give to the audience is that prioritize your mental health at all costs. Everything comes later, but mental health comes first. Do not hesitate to seek the help of a professional when you don’t feel good.  Watch the complete session of Ms. Ishwari on the following YouTube channel

What Youth of India Wants

Hailing from Delhi, Mr. Suraj Bansal is a social activist who strives hard for youth empowerment. He is also a national football player, currently representing his college. Mr. Suraj encourages and supports the youth, especially those of the underprivileged class.

He says that there are many talented youths who are deprived of opportunities. He started this club with his friends and has crossed more than 150 people today. Having faced a lot of struggles himself, Mr. Suraj is able to identify the problems faced by underprivileged people. The reason behind finding this club was to not let other people face struggles as he did. He strives hard to provide people with opportunities and help them to achieve their goals.

The Legit Talks asked Mr. Suraj about how such situations lead to deterioration in mental health and how to overcome it. Mr. Suraj said they help the youth, especially teenagers who give up easily and try suicide. They talk it out and encourage youth to fight for their dreams.

The Legit Talks asked how people approach this club. Mr. Suraj said that he is associated with around fifteen NGOs that work for various causes. He gets a lot of support from them as well. Another thing Mr. Suraj mentioned was that he organizes meetups and an event every week. This helps people know about this club and thus they approach it. He also talked about how NGOs have helped him during his hard times.

When asked about his biggest achievement, Mr. Suraj was very humble and said that he hasn’t achieved much yet. However, whenever he is in need and someone helps him with his club, he takes that as an achievement. He also explained this with an example. He was invited to some function and he was accepted to arrive with his club members. Within one night, the volunteers of the club managed to take 125 youths to the function.

Mr. Suraj talked about the different NGOs and how they work. He also talked about how easy it is to be a part of an NGO.

Looking back at his life, Mr. Suraj has come a long way and still has to achieve a lot. His goal is to connect with and work for every youth in India who is underprivileged and help them to achieve their dreams.

The message that Mr. Suraj wants to give to the youth of India is that no matter whether you win or lose, play the game till the very end. Do not give up, and success will surely come to you.

In the end, Mr. Suraj talked about his residence in what people call the slum area and how they face difficulties there. His biggest inspiration for all his works is his mother.

Mr. Suraj praised The Legit Talks show calling it the best and leading talk show in India as it focuses on ordinary people doing extraordinary things.

Start, Discover, & Be Visible

Ms. Ketki Peche hails from Hinganghat, Maharashtra. She is currently pursuing her MBA from Pune. Ms. Ketki is the owner of the cosmetic shop Glam and Glow. She started this business with only one order during the lockdown, but within a year she completed 300+ orders.

Ms. Ketki talked about how patience matters in any business and that it takes time for a business to grow. Being also a student, she faces quite a difficulty managing her studies and business. She however enjoys the process as business is her passion. She faces a struggle in her business as many people buy only trusted known brands. It is her job to introduce customers to new and emerging brands that are not only good but also affordable. Ms. Ketki says that many beauty salons in Hinganghat buy cosmetics from her shop. Since she sells at an affordable price, she is not gaining much profit from the business. However, the beginning is always hard. Building customer is the key target in the initial days of the business. Moreover, Ms. Ketki is doing business single-handedly. She takes the orders, ships them to the customers, and even handles the customer reviews. Her customers are spread all over India. Social media platforms like Instagram helped her business reach people in all parts of the country. She provides service 24*7.

Talking about support from her parents for her business, Ms. Ketki said that it was her parent’s idea for her to start a cosmetic business during the lockdown. They have supported her immensely throughout her journey. Even during the pandemic, proper precautions were taken when the customers visited and products were sanitized.

The establishment of Glam and Glow is the biggest achievement of Ms. Ketki as it is a self-made success. She dreams of having her own cosmetic brand one day. She wants to make a brand that is affordable for everyone and all classes of people. She also wants to focus on making products that are chemical-free and all-natural. The current brands that Ms. Ketki recommends are Faces Canada and Swiss Beauty.

Ms. Ketki keeps the information about all the products that she sells. Therefore, she is able to give personalized recommendations to customers. The customers also give feedback on her recommendations.

Building a brand begins with a dream. Ms. Ketki also dreams of building a brand that would provide small testers of products for the customers. This would enable them to test the product before buying.

The message that Ms. Ketki wants to give to the audience is that take risks and not to worry about what would happen. Be confident enough to face the challenges and never give up.

Ms. Ketki is thankful to The Legit Talks for having her on the show. She loves the show as it gives motivation to people to have dreams and achieve them.
